Dr. Christine Powell
Director and Lead Education Therapist
If you are here because you are looking for educational support for your child, you are my village. Like many of you, my child was diagnosed with ADHD. School, at times, was a challenge. Being a special education teacher, I took a deep dive into the research, to better inform my teaching practices and help my students, including my own son.
In my work as an Education Therapist, I help students with diagnosed and undiagnosed learning challenges, to include ADHD.
My approach to Education Therapy is strengths-based and underpinned by neurobehavioral strategies. Education and experience inform my practice:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine; Masters Degree in Special Education w/ endorsements in Emotional & Behavioral Disorders. Postgraduate Professional Certificate in Gifted/ Talented. Doctorate in Education; Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching Scholar(2019/Singapore); Published researcher; Presenter; Adjunct Professor.
I specialize in working with students with ADD/ADHD, test anxiety, specific learning disorders, and executive functioning disorders.
So glad you are here. Here is how can we help...
When working with students, we utilize a strength-based approach, which considers each student’s unique learning profiles. Lessons are individually planned and built around the strengths, interests, talents, and experiences of learners.
Making a difference in the lives of students drives our work, and we are continually integrating research-based pedagogy into our practice.
We stay current in education research and best practices and this has led to pursuing specialized training using multi-sensory approaches to learning (Orton-Gillingham & Wilson Reading systems), as well as undergoing targeted training in executive functioning and behavior management.
Our students continue to inspire and fuel our own learning.
